We do not limit this service to only the transgender community, nor the LGBT community, as we believe that all people deserve adequate medical and mental health care services. We are here to help those who cannot help themselves, regardless of gender or orientation. At Seattle Transgender there are no borders, boundaries, or limitations to the care of improving the Seattle Community.
Yes, it is true our focus is on the transgender community. We believe Transgender people within our community are offered very little in any organized, structured way. It is our hope that this website will provide a place in our community they can call home, or a comfort zone. We want to increase the number of places, businesses, and services which create this comfort zone where we can feel welcome and safe. We want to create a form of unity.
This does not stop us from reaching out to the community for their needs whenever possible. The Essential Health programs are basic care programs. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to have Food, Medication, Medical & Mental Health Care.
We do not stop there, One very important part of our essential health programs is providing assistance for those in a potentially dangerous situation,
Domestic Violence.
The
Domestic Violence program provides many ways to care for victims. An escape plan is so important in the safe removal of someone in harms way. This program includes many areas such as: transportation, food, shelter, health care, and many other basic, essential items of care needed at the time. This program comes with the assistance of the
Seattle Police Departments, Domestic Violence Unit, and
NW Network for survivors of abuse.
We lobby for equal rights within the LGBT community by working closely with our senators, and legislators in Olympia. Offering support to the organizations that fight for equality
ie (
Equal Rights Washington, Lambda Legal, National Center for Transgender Equality) and many others, is yet another direct way we work to support equal rights.
At Seattle Transgender, we also work to support a chemical dependency program. We work with both inpatient, as well as outpatient care for those dealing with chemical dependency. We have seen to many young citizens of the greater Seattle community which have needlessly passed-on due to the ever growing problem of Drug addiction and Alcoholism. We do not think we can save the world, however we can do the very best we can in our own community.
Our Gender Reassignment Surgery Program is the first ever GRS program that utilizes specific supporters donations for surgery. This program requires the same endorsement letters as specificed by The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) formally Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association, INC. (HBGID).
